LETTER TO PARENTS OF AUTISTIC ADULTS

The Need

The increased prevalence of autism has been a major news story in recent years, and the emphasis has been clearly placed on the importance of early intervention. There is no doubt that early intervention is valuable, but services need to go much further than this.
In the rush for early intervention, the fact has been overlooked that autistic individuals spend a much longer time as adults than as children and students. The result of this oversight is that many autistic adults are left with no structure, support or purpose, and the burden on their family becomes even greater. There are currently more than 50,000 adults with autism in Quebec, and the lack of services for this population is extremely disturbing.

The Solution

Studio without limits is asking for your involvement to help develop and sustain a creative, innovative and practical program that provides training, and the opportunity to explore new areas of interest and acquire valuable new skills.

Studio sans limites (SSL) is a charitable organization which promotes the social integration of persons with autism by developing their skills and by practical work training programs that can lead to meaningful work. This service, new in concept, offers persons with autism an opportunity to join the work force.

We need about 2.000 s.f. in which we will install SSL offices and workshops in which many disciplines will be taught: secretarial duties, graphic designs, silk screen printing, photography, video production, jewellery making and others. The space should be distributed on the same floor. We need you collaboration so that SSL can open its doors as soon as possible and offer these highly needed programs.

The rent should be very reasonable so that our budget can be  directed towards the work training programs. We are ready to take move immediately. If you can answer our request or if you know someone who can, please contact us at 514 926 1103

 

Development Funds

Funds are needed for us to offer much needed services to the autistic adults. There are 40,000 of them in the province of Québec and like us they need to work and be part of the community, with proper assistance they can.
